NYDA is currently accepting applications for National Youth Service.

The National Youth Service (NYS) is a government-led initiative that empowers unemployed youth through community service, skills development, and work readiness training. In Phase IV, the programme is expanding nationwide, targeting youth aged 18–35, especially those not in employment, education, or training (NEET).

Participants play active roles in their local communities while receiving a monthly stipend, gaining work experience and life skills that improve employability.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES:

Youth selected for this phase will work on community-based projects in areas such as:

  • Early Childhood Development (ECD) support
  • Environmental clean-up campaigns and food security initiatives
  • Safety and community policing support
  • Health promotion in clinics and communities
  • Education support in schools and libraries

Duration: 6–9 months
Stipend: R23.19 per hour (16 hours per week)
Extras: Personal development, career coaching, and work-readiness sessions

You are eligible if you:

  • Are a South African citizen aged 18–35
  • Are currently unemployed and not studying or training
  • Have a passion for community development
  • Reside in an area with active community service projects

Note: A Matric certificate is beneficial but not required.
