Africege Communications and Media Internships
The African Centre for a Green Economy (AfriCGE) is currently accepting applications for the Communications and Media Internship programme.
The Communications and Media Intern will support the organization’s outreach and engagement efforts by helping to communicate these initiatives to various stakeholders, including the public, media, and partner organizations.
Objective: To assist in the development and dissemination of communication materials that promote the organization’s green economy initiatives and increase public awareness and engagement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Develop and produce content for various platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, and press releases, focusing on green economy topics.
- Social Media Management: Assist in managing the organization’s social media accounts by creating posts, monitoring engagement, and analysing performance metrics.
- Media Outreach: Support media relations efforts, including drafting press releases, organizing press conferences, and maintaining media contact lists.
- Research: Conduct research on green economy trends, news, and best practices to inform content creation and organisational strategies.
- Event Support: Assist in planning and promoting events, webinars, and campaigns related to green economy initiatives.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track media coverage and social media metrics and prepare regular reports on communication activities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and support cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- Education: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Media Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong writing, editing, and communication skills; familiarity with social media platforms; basic graphic design and video editing skills are a plus.
- Knowledge: An understanding of environmental issues, sustainable development, and the green economy is preferred.
- Attributes: Creative, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
