About AIDC-EC Bursary
The Automotive Industry Development Centre Eastern Cape (AIDC-EC) is accepting applications for 2025 academic year bursaries.
Bursaries will be awarded for Master’s and Doctoral/ PhD studies at Nelson Mandela University, within the following fields:
Masters studies:
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Operations Management
Doctorate/PhD studies:
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Operations Management

Bursaries will be awarded to the following values:
- Masters: R150 000 per annum, for 1 year
- Doctorate: R150 000 per annum, for 2 years (total R300 000)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying for this bursary:
- You must be a South African citizen
- Masters degree applicants: you must have completed an NQF level 8 qualification
- Doctorate/PhD degree applicants: you must have completed an NQF level 9 qualification
- You must be eligible to register at Nelson Mandela University, within one of the qualifications listed above
- Preference will be given to automotive engineering related project titles
