UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS) seeks consultants to develop modular and adaptable masterclass materials for the Fit for Life Sport Leadership Programme. This initiative aims to train young leaders (18-35) to drive inclusive, equitable, and safe sport participation. The consultant(s) will design a master curriculum tailored for diverse demographic groups, including women, refugees, and persons with disabilities.
The curriculum will align with priority themes such as gender equality, anti-racism, disability inclusion, and safe sport. Deliverables include facilitator guides, participant workbooks, mentoring and consultation guides, evaluation tools, and feedback mechanisms.
The first pilot will launch in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, in July 2025, in partnership with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), supporting Saudi Vision 2030. Ten young leaders will undergo training, mentorship, and project incubation, with selected initiatives receiving implementation support.
Responsibilities
Consultants will create a comprehensive, flexible curriculum to support Fit for Life’s modular training approach. Key tasks include:
- Scoping and Framework Development
- Review UNESCO and partner resources on inclusive and safe sport.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and local needs assessments.
- Develop an adaptation plan to align curriculum with regional priorities. Master Curriculum Development
- Create a modular training framework with clear learning objectives, skills development, and interactive activities.
- Design facilitator guides, participant workbooks, and assessment tools.
- Ensure materials are accessible and translatable for future adaptations.
- Develop a cascade training guide for participants to conduct peer-based training.
- Integrate feedback from peer review and UNESCO networks.
- Customization for the AlUla Pilot Tailor curriculum modules to fit local cultural and sport sector needs.
- Develop a mentoring framework for project incubation.
- Prepare facilitators for masterclass delivery in July 2025.
- Identify additional content for a second masterclass series in September 2025.

Qualifications and Skills
- Education requirements include a master’s or PhD in curriculum development, education, or a related field.
- Work experience should include at least five years in curriculum design, capacity-building, or educational programme development, preferably with international organizations.
- Experience in sport for development, youth empowerment, and inclusive sport education is an asset.
- Key skills include expertise in curriculum design, training assessment, and modular education.
- The ability to adapt content to diverse cultural contexts is essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement are required.
- Experience in inclusive sport education is preferred.
- Language requirements include fluency in English, with Arabic considered an asset.
