About Z83 Form

The purpose is to assist a government department in selecting a person for an advertised post. This form may be used to identify candidates to be interviewed. Since all applicants cannot be interviewed, you need to fill in this form completely, accurately and legibly.

The latest version of Z83 was released on the 1st of January 2021 and is still eligible for use in 2024.

How to fill Z83 Application Form in 2024

The new Z83 has seven sections (A-G) to be completed by the person applying for a Job, All sections of this form are compulsory.

  1. A. THE ADVERTISED POST: State the Job you are applying for, reference, your availability and the department.
  2. B. PERSONAL INFORMATION: Fill in your personal details, full names, date of birth, gender and driver’s license if you have one.
  3. C. CONTACT DETAILS AND MEDIUM OF COMMUNICATIONS: Provide your phone number and preferred language for correspondence.
  4. D. SOUTH AFRICAN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: state ‘good’, ‘fair’, or ‘poor’
  5. E. FORMAL QUALIFICATION: (from highest to the lowest), mention the name of the qualification, institution and year completed.
  6. F. WORK EXPERIENCE: Your previous work experience matters when applying for any Job, Also attach a detailed CV.
  7. G. REFERENCES: State three (3) contactable references, could be your previous employer or lecture.

When done completing all sections, declare and sign the form. That’s it.

Can I fill Z83 online?

The Government of South Africa has introduced another method for applying for Government Vacancies which doesn’t use email, fax or posting the application form. Candidates can also fill the Z83 online.
