CSIR SASOL Foundation Bursary

The CSIR, in collaboration with the SASOL Foundation, financially supports full-time, unemployed students seeking qualifications in areas of Science, Engineering & Technology. 

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is a leading scientific and technology research organisation that researches, develops, localises and diffuses technologies to accelerate socio economic prosperity in South Africa.

The organization’s work contributes to industrial development and supports a capable state.

Undergraduates Bursary Qualifications

  1. Aeronautical Engineering
  2. Mechatronic Engineering
  3. Mechanical Engineering
  4. Computer Engineering
  5. Electronic Engineering
  6. Computer Science 
  7. Chemical Engineering

Bursary Covers

  1. Registration fees
  2. Tuition fees
  3. Books
  4. Accommodation
  5. Living allowances
  6. Once-off laptop allowance 

Required Documents

All Applicants Must Submit 

  • Certified copy of applicant valid South African identity document   
  • A comprehensive CV of work experience and background

Undergraduate 

  • Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12) 
  • Certified copy of latest/June 2024 Official Academic Transcripts or official institution report or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling
  • Certified Full Tertiary Academic Records (for all years of tertiary study, even if at multiple institutions) or police affidavit stating why the student wasn’t schooling  
  • Certified copy of 2023 end-year Official Academic Transcripts [or police affidavit stating why the student wasn’t schooling

  1. Certified Grade 11 Report (final year-end report with official school stamp)
  2. Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)  

Gap-year during tertiary

  1. Certified Grade 11 Report (final year-end report with official school stamp) 
  2. Certified Full Tertiary Academic Records (for all years of tertiary study, even if at multiple institutions) or police affidavit stating why the student wasn’t schooling
  3. Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
