Eastern Cape Department of Education Bursary

Eastern Cape Department of Education is accepting applications for 2025 academic year bursaries.

The department will be awarding the following bursaries, to students residing within the Eastern Cape:

Military Veteran Dependents Bursary:

  • For unemployed youth who are Military Veteran Dependants.

Unemployed Youth with Disabilities Bursary: for unemployed youth with disabilities who are former students of ECDoE Special Schools. The following programmes are targeted to be offered:

  • Art (Music, Ceramic Designs, Fine Arts)
  • Assistant Chef Programme
  • Auto body and painting
  • Beadmaking
  • Boiler making
  • Dress making
  • Hair Dressing
  • Handyman Program (Tiling and Plastering, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Plumbing and Painting)
  • Holistic Massage and Beauty

PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) Bursary: for unemployed youth who are keen to pursue Teaching as a profession. The bursary will cover PGCE studies in FET Phase (Pure Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Geography and Technical Subjects).

Foundation Phase (Grades R – 3):

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses:

  • Military Veteran Dependents Bursary: Registration, Tuition, Residence, Meals and Books, up to maximum of R100 000.
  • Unemployed Youth with Disabilities Bursary: Registration, Tuition, Residence, Meals and Books. The bursary may also pat for Tuition, Venues and Catering, if the applicant is selected for skills programme.
  • PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) Bursary: not confirmed.
  • B Ed (Bachelor of Education degree) Bursary: not confirmed.
