Implats Mining Trainee Programme
PURPOSE: To develop incumbents on a registered learnership programme intended to provide learners with applied competence to qualify as Miner upon successful completion of the training programme which is not limited to acting/relieving Shift Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/ NQF Level 4/ STD 10 certificate with Mathematics is essential.
- A minimum of 12 months underground experience is required.
- Duration for the programme is 36 months (3 years)
The candidate must:
- Undergo assessment and be recommended in order to attend a formal interview.
- Obtain a medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket), complete RFA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Successfully complete all Mining training phases and through on and off the job training.
- Adapt to Implats rules, regulations and standards to ensure organisational best practices and legislative compliance are adhered to.
- Spend a predetermined time on training of the various or required disciplines.
- Ensure legal compliance of the Mine Standards and MHSA.
- Achieve set production and safety targets.
- Act as supervisor with limited authority to gain supervision skills and experience.
- Effectively manage and resolve conflicts and problems.
- To obtain a Blasting Certificate.
