Nelson Mandela University is recruiting and accepting applications for Quality Consultant vacancy.
The purpose of this post is to assist the Director of Quality Advancement relating to coordination, facilitation, and execution of reviews of academic programmes and institutional support services, across all sites.
The position requires extensive knowledge of quality promotion principles and practice in higher education, both nationally and internationally, in order to promote the development and implementation of an institutional quality advancement system promoting academic excellence.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Coordinate internal and external processes relating to the review and accreditation of academic programmes, across all sites.
- Coordinate internal and external processes relating to the review of support services, across all sites.
- Monitor regulatory requirements pertaining to the accreditation of academic programmes, and disseminate relevant information within the institution.
- Contribute to the coordination and follow-up of processes relating to reviews, including the development of review reports.
- Provide guidance and contribute to the development of improvement plans following reviews for both academic programmes and support services.
- Ensure that documentation relating to reviews is captured on the database.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of institutional policies and processes relating to the quality advancement.
- Liaise with relevant external bodies, such as the HEQC, HESA, SAQA, professional bodies and SETAs.
- Perform needs-based institutional research pertaining to quality in Higher Education.

CORE COMPETENCIES
- Possess a sound understanding of approaches to quality assurance in higher education.
- In depth knowledge of HEQC, DoE and SAQA criteria, guidelines and regulations pertaining to programme review and accreditation.
- Possess a sound understanding of the policy and statutory environment relating to South African higher education.
- Proven organisational and administrative skills.
- Good presentation and facilitation skills.
- The ability to function effectively in a team oriented environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office as well as electronic database management.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should have complied with the following requirements:
- A Master’s degree.
- At least three years work-related experience in a higher education institution in which competency has been gained
