Ruta Sechaba Foundation is currently accepting applications for 2026 academic year bursaries.

The Foundation offers 2 types of scholarships, for High School studies:

  • Academic Scholarships: for students who are excellent achiever in academics.
  • Sports Scholarships: for students who are excellent achiever in sports.

Students will be placed at leading schools, in a supportive environment that enables them to maximise their potential and gain access to countless opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be Black (African, Indian or Coloured), as defined by the B-BBEE Act
  • You must be currently in Grades 8 to 11
  • You must be an excellent achiever in academics or sport
  • You must be highly motivated
  • You must be determined to succeed
  • You must be in need of financial assistance, with a gross combined household income of NOT more than R45 000 per month
  • Academic Scholarship applicants: you must have achieved a minimum result of 65% for Mathematics, 65% for English and 65% overall average in your latest academic report
  • Sports Scholarship applicants: you must have been awarded national or provincial colours for one or more of the top 20 ranked sporting activities in the country and you must have consistently maintained a minimum academic average of 60%
