About Santam Bursary
The Santam Bursary Programme intend to produce a steady stream of skilled, capable and high calibre graduate learners with core technical skills, and behavioural and leadership competencies. This in return makes bursary opportunities available to young talented individuals studying in areas such as actuarial science, agriculture, underwriting, hydraulics and insurance assessment.
Will you be a second, third or final year undergraduate, or an Honours student next year? Are you keen on pursuing a career in the short-term insurance industry?
Santam and StudyTrust are pleased to invite you to apply for a bursary if your studies are focused on one of the study programmes listed below.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Students pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, Honours degree in:
- Actuarial, Data Analytics, Data Sciences, Statistics
- Agriculture
- Civil, Geomatics, Mechanical Engineering
- Construction
- Insurance Technical Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics
- Risk Management
BURSARY DETAILS
The bursary will cover costs (capped) for the following:
- Registration/Tuition fee
- Accommodation (Deposit, admin fees, etc.)
- Learning material (Books, e-Manuals, etc.)
- Laptops
- Monthly allowance
- Travel/Transport allowance

SELECTION CRITERIA
- The main criteria used in the selection of successful applicants are academic potential and motivation for a career with Santam.
- Applicants must have achieved an average of 65% and above for their undergraduate degree and in the latest examinations (mid-year/June).
Specific criteria applies to Agricultural applicants. Please see the details below before considering your application:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 2- or 3-year Agricultural studies with focus on crop production
- Agricultural degree/diploma with plant production and/or soil science as preferred subjects
- Microsoft Excel skills
- Assertiveness
- Good communication (verbal and written)
- Negotiation skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Flexible, team-worker, collaborative
- Self-starter, drives results
- Customer focus
- For support services; business requirement dependent
