Shoprite South Africa is accepting applications for Marketing Trainee Program.
Purpose:
- To implement an annual brand strategy for specific divisions and areas of Shoprite Checkers.
- To align all marketing and communications (advertising) with the main marketing strategy in terms of the look, feel, price and product offer.
- To ensure most effective and efficient marketing spend.
- To develop healthy and sustainable relationships with media and brand agencies.
Objectives
To implement an annual Brand strategy in specific divisions and areas of Shoprite / Checkers:
- Marketing research and awareness of relevant trends that impact the relevant supermarket brands.
- Formulating new marketing initiatives.
- Measure the effectiveness of the marketing plan.
To align all marketing / communication (advertising) with the main marketing strategy in terms of the look, feel, price and product offer:
- Align all communications and endeavours with the Brand strategy.
- Ensure that media selection is efficient and complies with the strategy.
- Participate and assist with the coordination of promotional activities.
- Manage the day-to-day marketing / advertisement activities.
To ensure most effective and efficient marketing spend:
- Manage campaign budgets.
- Analyse historical sales information and plan in order to ensure the timing and effectiveness of promotions are maximised.

To develop healthy and sustainable relationships with media and brand agencies:
- Foster a sustainable relationship with internal business stakeholders.
- Provide a marketing support function to divisions.
- Act as liaison between client and agents.
- Provide briefings to agencies that are of high quality and ensure that all endeavours support the marketing and business strategy.
- Plan and implement projects against deadlines and costs.
- Provide and receive continuous feedback.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary degree or diploma
