About SITFE Bursary
Sugar Industry Trust Fund for Education (SITFE) is accepting applications for 2025 academic year bursaries.
Who can apply
SITFE invites the “missing middle” students who have applied or are registered at any South African public University or University of Technology to apply for the 2025 SITFE bursary. In addition, the students who have applied or are enrolled at the following Agricultural colleges are also invited to apply for the bursary:
- Owen Sithole College of Agriculture
- Cedara College of Agriculture

Applicants must be:
- Registered or have applied in the Faculties of Science, Engineering or Agriculture at a University, University of Technology or College of Agriculture.
- “Missing Middle” applicants whose family combined income is between R350 000 to R600 000 from sugarcane growing areas, where mills and sugar industry administrative infrastructure are located.
- Preference will be given to first years
- The child of a sugarcane farm worker may register or apply for any field of study at a University, University of Technology or College of Agriculture.
